I WATCHED MY FIRST BUYER AT AGE 11. I'VE NEVER STOPPED.

I was 11. My father ran an optical store in Gurgaon. After school, I'd sit behind the counter with nothing to do.

So I watched people.

A man walks in. Needs glasses. Tries on twelve pairs. Asks my father for an opinion. He already knows which ones he wants, he just needs someone to confirm it. He hesitates at a price he can clearly afford. Puts the glasses down. Picks them up again. Then something shifts. He buys.

I didn't know what that shift was. But I knew it wasn't the price. It wasn't the frames. It was something happening inside him that nobody in that room was paying attention to.

That question stayed with me for years, while I analyzed and observed thousands of other customers do the same dance.

In 2012, I was deep in over a hundred research papers on political psychology, studying how people choose their leaders. Somewhere in that research, something cracked open. The same forces that move a voter to choose a candidate move a buyer to choose a brand. Same brain. Same invisible triggers. Same decision architecture.

Nobody in marketing was working at this level. They were optimising ads. I started studying minds.

That gap, between what marketing does and what actually makes people buy, is what I've spent the last 15 years closing. For brands across the world.
